Crop protection business Certis UK has appointed Peter McDonald as the new country manager.

Bringing a wealth of international management, sales and marketing experience to lead the UK team, McDonald is well placed to build on the recent successful growth of the business.

Previously managing director of the south east Asian company Corn Products International, a Dow Jones-listed company, McDonald held responsibility for commercial and manufacturing operations in Thailand.

McDonald has also worked with Zeneca and Syngenta, and prior to leaving was responsible for heading up the Thai Syngenta Crop Protection business.

McDonald is enthusiastic about resuming his career in the UK after 13 years working in the international business arena. He welcomes a new challenge and is looking forward to steering the ambitious growth plans for the business.

“Previous dealings have included significant experience in the Japanese market, which will undoubtedly serve me in good stead working with our Japanese parent company Mitsui,” said McDonald.

Erika den Daas, chief operations officer for Certis Europe northern territories, said: “[McDonald] will provide the Certis UK team with the direction required to achieve their strategic goals and contribute to the success of Certis Europe.”

Peter Hingley, who has been country manager for seven years and prior to that worked for Hortichem, will be moving to a new role in Certis as international business manager, with responsibility for development and sales of their IP products.
