Celebrities stay in the Pink

Pink Lady volumes have been tight, like so many of the varieties counterparts in the market in recent weeks, but the apple has recently discovered some celebrity admirers in the UK.

Ex-Atomic Kitten, Jenny Frost, Pride & Prejudice’s Rosamund Pike and Gideon’s Daughter star Miranda Richardson have divulged that Pink Lady apples play a core role in keeping them trim and healthy.

All three profess to use Pink Lady apples to control their cravings for something sweet by swapping snacks, such as chocolate and biscuits, for a piece of the fruit. These health savvy women know that a virtually fat free, low calorie Pink Lady® apple is a positive alternative to sugary snacks.

Frost said: “When my craving for something sweet kicks in I grab a Pink Lady apple. Sweet and fizzy, like champagne, they’re a delicious substitute for something naughty." Pike added: “Pink Lady apples are like no other - sweeter, crisper and plush like a rose. It’s not hard to eat something so healthy when it tastes so good!”

Another aficionado is celebrity chef James Martin, who has joined up with the Pink Lady promotional team to devise an exclusive ice cream recipe for Summer 2006.

The pink blush of Pink Lady and their distinctive flavour, the ice cream is an indulgent, yet light treat for this summer season.

Martin said: "Pink Lady apples are a great ingredient for a refreshing ice cream. They add natural sweetness and a champagne-like fizz, which you don't get with any other apple."
