Worldwide Fruit commercial director Paul Cassinos retires from the business today [April 30], after a career in the fresh produce industry that spanned 41 eventful years.
His first role in produce was with Louis Reece, based at the original Covent Garden Market joining in 1967. He also worked for Saphir, before moving to Geest in 1989. On the creation of Geest Worldwide Fruit in 1990, he took up the role of procurement director.
Through subsequent mergers Cassinos has remained a director.Steve Maxwell, who will take on Cassinos’ duties alongside his own exisiting role, said: “All of us at Worldwide Fruit would like to thank Paul for his wonderful contribution to the business and his development of the people within it. Paul is a genuine heavyweight in the UK produce industry, a much respected and well liked man with a huge wealth of knowledge.”
“Paul has been a great ambassador for Worldwide Fruit and we are pleased that he has agreed to stay with us part time in a consultancy role,” Maxwell said.
