The sixth UK onion and carrot conference will take place this November with an international line-up of speakers and experts.

Taking place at the East of England Showground in Peterborough, the conference will feature Wayne Minninger of the US, Tatyana Ivchenko (Ukraine), Hans Christoph Behr (Germany) and Professor Frank Adamicki (Poland) to give an international round-up of the vegetables.

Delegates will also debate R&D issues including international contributions on advances in plant breeding, control of bacterial diseases, alternatives to herbicides, production of synthetic pesticides and storage practice.

On the high street in the UK, the effects of environmental issues, the credit crunch and promotional campaigns will be reviewed by Kent Business School, ASDA (Wal-Mart), the Soil Association, the National Farmers’ Union and a number of PR companies.

The conference runs on November 18-19, featuring entertainment by MasterChef host Gregg Wallace at an industry dinner on the first day.
