Cargill, the international provider of food, agricultural and risk management products and services, has announced the sale its Brazilian juice operations, which include four citrus production farms, two processing plants, fruit supply agreements and related assets, to two Brazilian companies, Citrosuco and Cutrale, in separate transactions.
Cargill will remain engaged in serving its worldwide juice customers. The company plans to source Brazilian origin citrus products from Citrosuco and Cutrale, and all the parties have agreed to honor the supply agreements with the fruit suppliers. This repositioning will allow Cargill to strengthen and expand its presence in the global market for value added juices and beverages. Cargill has Juice operations - plants and terminals - in Europe, Japan and North America.
Sergio Barroso, Cargill Brazil president, said: “While this decision involves Cargill’s exit from Brazilian orange producing and processing, it reinforces Cargill’s focus to be aligned with, and provide innovative solutions and products to, its global customers.”
In Brazil for about 40 years, Cargill has the profile of a diversified company. Its roots are connected to the agribusiness sector, but it is also one of the most important food industries in the country. With its head office in São Paulo (SP), the company has units and offices in more than 150 cities throughout Brazil and about 6,500 employees.
