Taste of London last week saw the number of fresh produce companies at the show rise to its highest level yet.

The four-day foodie festival, from June 18-21, pulled in crowds keen to see world-famous chefs from the finest restaurants in the capital alongside renowned food and drink producers.

The fresh produce presence included Jazz apples, pictured, Pink Lady, Tenderstem broccoli, the Good Natured brand from Angus Soft Fruits and The Garlic Farm on the Isle of Wight.

Jazz ran a Fairground Challenge, in which more than 1,500 visitors threw balls through hoops on an apple tree to win prizes.

The stand even pulled in celebrity visitors including chefs Gary Rhodes and Atul Kuchhar. More than 5,000 Jazz apples were handed out, along with 1,500 recipe cards and 1,000 Jazz apple slicers.

Gary Harrison of Worldwide Fruit told freshinfo: “This was Jazz’s third year at Taste and every year it gets better. It is the perfect platform to reach consumers with a real interest in food and gives us an excellent opportunity to get consumers to try the variety and therefore help us raise awareness…

“It was incredible how well it worked. We had crowds of people and a real party atmosphere around the stand for the duration of the event. Not only this, but we also generated more than 1,000 sign-ups to the Jazz monthly online newsletter.”

The Pink Lady-branded Mini stopped off for the four-day stint at Taste, fresh from Ascot and before it continues to Wimbledon this week.

Pink Lady events manager Mark Ashmore told freshinfo: “This is our first time here and it has been fantastic. We have been on the road for nine weeks and we are halfway through.”

First-time exhibitor Tenderstem broccoli hosted a chef on its stand, to show consumers how the vegetable can be used in a range of different ways.

The Good Natured brand featured a cut-out stand for photo opportunities, with the most ‘good-natured’ visitors receiving a Good Natured goodie bag.
