Capespan signs huge Namibia deal

Capespan has been granted exclusive marketing rights for one of the largest grape farms in southern Africa.

Under the terms of the 10-year agreement between Capespan and the Namibian Youth Council, the South African exporter becomes responsible for marketing and managing production on behalf of the Aussenkehr-based Namibian Grape Company.

At 360 hectares, the Namibian Grape Company is the country’s largest grape farm, about 10 times the size of a typical South African farm.

Capespan UK’s managing director Ronan Lennon said: “Capespan has been actively engaged with the Namibian grape industry for a number of years, both as technical adviser and through our farm development and ownership company Rapiprop. The agreement with the Namibian Grape Company will further strengthen Capespan’s early southern hemisphere grape offer... Capespan will now market 55 per cent of all Namibian grape exports.”

Meanwhile, Capespan has been marketing prize-winning Thompson Seedless in the UK this week under its Gold brand. The fruit is from the overall winner of Namibia’s vine block competition and is identified with special stickers on cartons “1st Prize - Namibian Table Grapes Competition”.
