According to a recent survey, less than 40 per cent of Canadians are getting their quota of fruit and veg.

Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating recommends eating five to 10 servings for fruit and veg a day.

However, a recent national survey saw Canadians citing a variety of reasons for failing to consume enough, including the belief by 28 per cent that 5 to 10 servings of fruit and vegetables daily seems like too much food.

One quarter of Canadians claimed they don't have enough time to prepare them and 12 per cent admitted they do not know what constitutes a serving.

The survey also revealed that 21 per cent of Canadians said that eating the proper amount of fruit and vegetables is often inconvenient, so they do not bother.
