An apple-picking veteran from the Canadian province of Quebec has harvested his way to a Guinness world record.

Claude Breton, who has been plucking apples from trees for 50 years, was measured as collecting 365 kilogrammes of apples in just eight hours.

Breton filled eight wooden boxes, each of which contained 3,780 apples, at the orchard where he works in Dunham, Quebec, south east of Montreal.

The canny Breton managed to earn a few bucks on the back of his newfound fame. Some onlookers paid $10 for an apple autographed by the freshly crowned world champ. One even spent $40 on the last of the 30,000-or-so apples picked.

Breton, who you would have thought might need some medical attention, said however he will donate the money to his martial arts club.
