Campden BRI has released a new guideline to help those involved in crop and animal production systems implement Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) systems and address the latest requirements.

HACCP is legal requirement for all businesses involved in food production and processing and is increasingly used in primary production activities.

HACCP implementation has previously been perceived as being a daunting task unsuitable for farmers and growers. However, Campden BRI claim simplification of procedures has meant that it has become a cost-effective way of identifying and controlling food safety hazards during the primary production process.

This updated guidance, entitled HACCP in agriculture: a practical guide, which covers both crop and animal production systems for the first time, takes the reader through HACCP in a simple, step-by-step way, to help them understand it and apply it to their own systems. Pertinent examples of crop and animal systems throughout the text emphasise both the relevance and simplicity of the analysis.
