The Cameo club, set up in 1998 by the Pépinières du Valois nursery has become a limited company in order to develop the apple variety on a European scale.
Cameo Europe was incorporated earlier this year with fruit marketers, growers and Pépinières du Valois are all shareholders in the new company which held its first board meeting including representatives from three countries, Villers-Cotterêts, France recently.
Some 400 ha are now under production of Cameo Caudle in Europe and a crop of 15,000 tonnes is expected by 2010.
