There have been calls to add heathy cooking onto the curriculum for British schools following recent recommendations from the Department of Education for students to learn more about nutrition.
“Food is a fundamental part of children’s health and wellbeing,' said Carola Weymouth, director of Cookie Crumbles, a firm which gives cooking classes to schoolchildren.
She added: 'Learning how to cook healthy and wholesome food is essential to understanding food and nutrition; getting active in the kitchen is the key.'
According to a recent survey of 2,000 British parents by cookery book publisher Parragon, only 19 per cent of parents cook properly every night and only one third of parents spend more than 40 minutes per night preparing food, compared with over 50 per cent of the previous generation.
