Juan Marín, president of Murcia producer-exporters’ association Proexport in Spain, has called on the authorities to get behind the “Spain brand”.
At his organisation’s AGM he said: “It is both urgent and necessary for the future of our sector that we regain the path of profitability for our products and our businesses.
"The time has come for politics to put itself well and truly at the service of growers and back the brand of Spain overseas, support energy efficiency in tomato production and come up with a solution once and for all for the industry’s water problems.”
Proexport and its counterpart in the neighbouring region of Andalusia are rolling out a three-year programme We Care, You Enjoy in the UK and other selected European markets over the next three years.
