Flowers and Plants Association chief executive Veronica Richardson will be retiring at the end of months following more than 20 years of work in the industry.

Richardson began her stint with the association when it was formed in 1984, going on to play a pivotal role in its development over the years. The organisation now has over 200 member companies and a turnover in excess of £1 million.

In that times sales of cut flowers have also risen from £8 to £39 per year.

She will be replaced in the top job by Andrea Caldecourt, who has been communications manager at F&PA for eight years and hasa also worked in the floriculture industry with firms that breed, grow, import and wholesale flowers.

In turn, Caldecourt is replaced as communications manager by Sarah Holland, who has worked in floristry for over ten years.
