Calcagni

Pino Calcagni, former president of Italian trade association Aneioa, has replaced the Fresh Produce Consortium’s retired chief executive Doug Henderson as vice president of European trade body Freshfel.

Calcagni was elected at last week’s annual general meeting in Venice. He said: “This is an extremely important role and it will be difficult to follow in the footsteps of Doug Henderson. I look forward to working closely with the Freshfel secretariat to continue the excellent work they have done to make Freshfel what it is today.”

Freshfel general secretary Philippe Binard added: “This is a rotation that brings good balance between the roles of Freshfel to exporters and importers. Pino has a lot of experience in the political side of European fresh produce and has been very active in our export division.”

German Kai Krasseman will continue as president for another term. “We have to cope with the decision of Doug to retire,” said Binard. “This is therefore a change, but also a continuation.”
