Freshfel Europe has elected Pino Calcagni as its president until 2008.
The election took place during the association’s annual general meeting held in Seville on June 7, before the opening of Fresh 2006.
Pino Calcagni replaces Kai Krasemann, of Fruchthansa, Germany, who presided over the association from 2002 to 2006.
He said: “I am proud of the confidence given by all Freshfel members to continue the valuable and successful actions initiated by my predecessor, Kai Krasemann.
“Freshfel is today in a unique and strong position to foster relationships across the chain and undertake actions to boost fruit and vegetable consumption.
“Freshfel will continue to be a reliable and efficient partner both for its members, and for EU authorities as well as other international institutions such as WTO, WHO or FAO.”
Ramon Rey, of ARC Eurobanan, Spain, was elected as vice-president.
Philippe Binard, general delegate of Freshfel Europe presented the Activity Report of the Association for the period from June 2005 to May 2006.
