Celebrity chefs have been playing an important role in boosting the popularity of cabbage, according to grower TH Clements and its customer Tesco.
Endorsements from Gordon Ramsay and Nigella Lawson, as well as canny money-off and link-save promotions at Tesco, have shifted around 500,000 more heads of cabbage over the past 12 weeks compared to the same period last year.
The retailer has added Red Pointed and Japanese Flat to its offer.
“The celebrity chefs have played their part, as have the different cooking techniques such as steaming and stir-frying,” said TH Clements’ md Chris Gedney.
