The Chilean avocado season just ended was the fruit’s most successful campaign to date in both the UK and Europe, according to the Chilean Hass Avocado Association (CHAA).

Production this year totalled around 206,000 tonnes, 156,000t of which were exported. The UK consumed 7,200t of Chilean Hass this season, compared with just over 6,100t last year.

“We are really pleased with the results of this year’s Hass avocado campaign,” said Adolfo Ochagavía, CHAA president. “We have again seen excellent growth in our major markets. Our comprehensive promotional efforts in the UK market, on the back of a bumper crop of outstanding quality, have led to a second successive year of sales increases.”
