Budgens has announced it is lowering prices and matching Tesco on even more products in 2012.
It is the second and final phase of Budgens’ plan to invest £13 million in cutting prices in a year.
The convenience retailer now price matches more than 500 of its customers’ favourite products against Tesco after starting with 300 in September.
Donal Horgan, managing director of Musgrave Retail Partners GB, said: “Budgens shoppers have already reacted well to phase one of our campaign with a particularly strong response to our Tesco price match activity.
“In January we lowered the price of further products and extended our Tesco price match.
“The shopper is at the heart of our business and with the cost of living rising significantly we are committed to helping them save money on every visit to our stores.
“We are giving shoppers exceptional value through a combination of permanent price cuts on Tesco price match and through great offers throughout the store every week.”
The good value message will be spread with local advertising and leaflets put through people’s doors as well as point of sale material both inside and outside stores.
