Brogdale man returns

Having spent a large part of his working life at Brogdale and with Adas, fruit scientist Dr David Pennell started his own consultancy business 18 months ago, providing horticultural and fruit consultancy services. To take his business to the next level, Dr Pennell can now horticultural trials for clients testing propagation techniques including hydroponics systems at the Brogdale glasshouses.

The glasshouses are being overhauled and updated with the latest technology and when finished, visitors will be able to see the technologies in action, and learn hydroponics techniques, which can be adapted for use at home.

Ellis Pennell’s tenancy is part of a wider development at Brogdale Farm by landowner Hillreed Land, which is creating a new marketplace area with rural business units available to rent. The retail outlets will be let to complementary businesses, such as those using fruit and local produce to create food products, gardening and craft related retailers.
