FoodFen has hailed the 'healthy lunchbox challenge' a great success. The scheme aimed to help children understand the importance of the food chain that links East of England farmers and food manufacturers to products in the supermarket.

The challenge included tomatoes from the British Tomatoes Growers' Association and fruit sampling supported by Asda. Each display posed a question to children and correct answers were rewarded with stickers for a poster, which when completed won a brightly coloured lunchbox.

FoodFen is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting the agri-food industry across Eastern England.

Director Richard Turner said: 'It attracted an incredible response with families almost overwhelming the stand holders at peak times. However, sheer hard work resulted in hordes of happy children discovering more about food production and the food chain.'
