The organisers of The National Fruit Show returned to the show for the second year to promote a wide range of top and soft fruit.

This year's emphasis was on availability and where to purchase UK fruit, with one of the largest Bramley apple growers in the country, NFS chairman, Robert Mitchell available to answer questions on the first day, and scientists, advisors and other growers dishing out advice throughout.

The stand, organised by the Marden Fruit Show Society displayed a wide range of apples, pears, raspberries and strawberries.

A number of the main commercial apple and pear varieties such as Cox, Gala, St Edmund's Russett, Conference and the major culinary apple variety Bramley were available ready to eat, with some bearing different promotional messages from naturally produced SunSigns.

On hand to provide top and soft fruit respectively were Worldwide Fruit and KG Fruits, while the National Association of Cider Makers and Biddenden Vineyards gave out refreshment in the form of tastings of their farm-pressed apple juices.

NFS organiser, Carole Quinlan said the society was happy to return to the show after the success of the previous year: 'We had a tremendous response last year from restaurateurs, caterers, hotel staff, wine bar owners and the like from across the country.' The event ran from September 16 to 18 at London's Olympia.
