British food showcased for EU ministers

A NFU ‘market stall’ was on display at an exhibition of British Food put on for EU environment and agriculture ministers on September 10.

The Ministers were in London for informal meetings hosted by Defra.

The NFU’s exhibit was created by award-winning designer, Penny Riley, and showcased the very best of British seasonal fruit and vegetables.

NFU Horticulture chairman, Richard Hirst, said: “The market stall was used to show a diverse range of produce, including new and old varieties of fruit and vegetables such as sweetcorn and Kentish cobnuts. Seasons are now longer in Britain, which means produce such as peppers, tomatoes, carrots and hops can also be showcased.”
