British Airways World Cargo (BAWC) has announced a reduction to its fuel surcharge as the debate over food miles continues.
BAWC announced a reduction to its fuel surcharge this week. The surcharge will be £0.44($0.65/€0.65), with effect from December 29, 2008.
This reduction follows a continued fall in the price of fuel at British Airways. The new rates are displayed on BAWC’s fuel surcharge index, a tool designed to provide customers with more information about the calculation of fuel surcharges updated weekly.
Adam Carson, senior manager revenue management at BAWC, said: "We are reducing the fuel surcharge following further decreases in fuel prices.”
The BAWC fuel index is based on the average price of aviation fuel in four key spot markets; North West Europe, Singapore, Los Angeles and the US Gulf.
