One of the West Country's leading wholesalers and catering suppliers Bristol Fruit Sales (BFS) has carried out major restructuring of its operation in Bristol to reflect the different needs of its varied customer base.
BFS previously traded from two separate sites in Bristol Market as Bristol Fruit Sales and Fruit & Produce. These have now been amalgamated on one extended site to create a one-stop “super branch, trading as “Bristol Fruit Sales.
The “new” branch, under director Steve Payne, has received a £100,000 refit with the construction of a new exotics and fine foods department. The new facility has one of the largest temperature controlled selling areas for exotics in the country in addition to a separate area for chilled goods and a specially designed ripening facility for mangoes and avocados and other fruit.
David Foster, manager of BFS's new exotics operation, said: “The investment has been an unbelievable success. We already had the widest range of this kind in the West of England but the new facilities have been appreciated by existing customers and many new ones.”
The second phase of the restructure will see the refurbishment of remaining units in Bristol to house BFS Direct, the company's dedicated catering and distribution service.
