Brian Keenan

G Ferrigno Ltd has announced the sad loss of their friend and colleague Brian Keenan who died suddenly, on August 1.

Brian was introduced to the fruit and vegetable industry by his father and uncle, who had started the haulage company MA Keenan. Their biggest customer was Marks and Spencer, and they formed a joint company with M&S called Fruit Packers & Distributors Ltd. Brian was appointed director of this company and also worked at M&S head office in Baker Street, London.

He then moved on to become sales manager to Peter Gates for the Federated Fruit Co, which imported mushrooms from Ireland. In the early 1980s, still importing mushrooms, Brian started his own company on Liverpool market where he worked alongside Charlie Riley. Brian was the first to introduce “breakfast flats” to the market.

He went to work for Tony Ferrigno in 1995, joining Lol Pettener importing Italian produce. This small friendly office has lost a most endearing member of staff, a true gentleman who will be greatly missed by his friends and colleagues around the country. Our heartfelt sympathy to Brian’s wife Roma, his three children Katy, Ben and Tom and grandson Ethan.
