The British Retail Consortium (BRC) director general Bill Moyes is leaving the post at the end of January 2004.

Following three and a half years at the helm Moyes is departing to take up the position of independent regulator at NHS Foundation Trusts.

David Felwick, chairman of the BRC said: “As chairman of the BRC and on behalf of the board and staff, I am pleased to record my gratitude to Bill for his contribution as director general over the last three years. Having accomplished a major rejuvenation of the BRC, Bill leaves a consortium, which is strong determined and influential. The BRC is the only body that can deliver the representation retailers need and a new director general will have a key role in ensuring that we have a business environment for retailing to thrive.”
