Brazilian fruits and their by-products have been present in South Africa during the FIFA World Cup on display for importers, opinion makers, international media representatives and consumers.

The initiative is part of the Brazilian Fruit Project conducted by the Brazilian Fruit Institute (IBRAF) in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex Brasil).

The campaign included an event on 20 June at Casa Brasil in Johannesburg, hosted by the Brazilian government where the Sensational Brazil Experience is being held.

The event will brought together Brazilian food and drink exporters Brazilian featuring food tasting and a screening of the event between Brazil and the Ivory Coast.

The fruit sector was represented by products made with typical Brazilian fruit, including guaraná soft drinks and guava. Companies participating in this event included Bela Iaçá, Vittal and Predilecta.

Valeska de Oliveira, executive manager of IBRAF, said: “This is an opportunity to show the world the wonderful flavours of Brazil through our quality products, and offer opportunities to do more business with us. Currently Africa buys mostly only our processed fruit.”
