Bradford wholesalers and their guests raised almost £10,000 for charity at the city’s wholesale market annual dinner and dance last Saturday night.

Nearly 200 people attended the black-tie affair, held in the ballroom of the city-centre Midland Hotel. Hosted by tenants’ association chairman Simon Kershaw, of Burbank Produce, and his wife, Jane, guests dug deep to support the local charity SNOOP (Special Needs Objective Outreach Project).

SNOOP provides parents of children with special needs in West Yorkshire with flexible childcare and respite, to suit their needs and create opportunities for the children to play, meet new people and make friends.

Kershaw praised the generosity of the people at the dinner. “For the rest of the year, we compete with each other in the market, and like everywhere in the country, this has been a difficult trading period. But we always have a fantastic night at the dinner and unite to raise a significant amount of money for what is a very worthy cause. The hard-working team at SNOOP does a marvellous job for the children in the area.”
