Bradford banks on European market

Bradford International Market attracted around 650,000 visitors over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The centre of Bradford, in Yorkshire, was transformed into a European street market, with a mile of stalls winding their way through the cobbled streets of the city centre.

More than 300 traders from Holland, Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, the UK and Ireland pitched up to sell products from all corners of the continent, including fresh produce.

Wallace Sampson, director of customer services, said: “Bradford was proud to host the International Market which visits a different European venue every year and we are delighted that people flocked from across the country to see what we had to offer.

“We had set ourselves a target of 300,000 visitors over the four day event but that figure more than doubled. The market was heaving with people every day enjoying the opportunity to sample fresh produce from Europe and the UK.
