A study on how to take forward horticulture film technology in hotter climates is set to get underway at Lancaster University, with sponsorship from bpi.visqueen.

The film manufacturer will sponsor PhD student Eslam el Fadly, a staff member at Alexandria University, Egypt, who will undertake a three-year programme of work within Lancaster’s Department of Biological Sciences.

He will focus on research related to plastics technology in Middle Eastern environments and, in particular, the effects of UV light.

Elsam el Fadly will spend the first year working at Lancaster University before returning to Egypt in the second year to test his work on a range of crops at the Egyptian National Research Centre.

John Phoenix, sales director at bpi.visqueen, said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring this project, which will ultimately deliver a trained scientist who can take forward horticulture film technology in the world’s hotter climates.”
