The British Potato Council has revealed further cases of potato blight have been confirmed, bringing the total to 42 in the last month.

Fresh outbreaks occurred in crops in areas of Taunton in Somerset, Dunbar in East Lothian and Kelso in Roxburghshire. Blight has also been confirmed in potato dumps in both the York and Malton areas of Yorkshire.

The rising number of cases illustrate that conditions have been ideal for the development of the disease.
