Borough Market is to host its annual Apple Day celebration this Sunday, with a range of activities to get the public enthused about the fruit.
The free event, which takes place in Three Crown Square, Green Market and Market Hall on 22 October from 12-4pm, includes a range of activities aimed at reflecting the heritage of the British harvest.
There will be apple treats, traditional games and educational elements focused on endangered apple varieties and the art of cultivating orchards, while local theatre company the Lions Part will deliver music, songs, dancing, games and tales. There will also be an apple-peeling competition and Morris dancing.
Neighbouring Southwark Cathedral is kicking off the event with a short harvest worship in the market accompanied by the market's choir, with a collection for local homeless charity Robes Project.
Chef Angela Clutton will also be in a demonstration kitchen cooking up a range of apple-themed dishes.
