The National Fruit Show’s annual pilgrimage around the country to persuade more consumers to buy UK fruit will go to Borough Market, London on Saturday, October 21.
Saturday will be a special day at the site to the south of London Bridge as Borough commemorates 250 years of trading on the site with the Worshipful Company of Fruiterers, which is celebrating its 400th anniversary this year.
To mark the occasion, Lord Mayor of London, Alderman David Brewer will accept the annual gift of fruit, from Will Sibley, the company’s master, followed by the taking of the Loving Cup. Jeremy Scott, chairman of the National Fruit Show, said he would like to see as many growers as possible support the day, open to the public from 9am to 4pm when fruit from this week’s show will be on sale.
