Israel's Technological Seeds DM has revealed it is planning to unveil a new, dark-pigmented tomato called Black Galaxy.
It will be launched at the upcoming Arava Agricultural Research and Development Exhibition in February, Ynet News has reported.
The company says the distinctive colour results from a special, apparently health-enhancing pigment derived from blueberries that has been used in the new variety. The photosensitive pigment is said to darken as it stays on the vine.
