This year for the first time the British Leafy Salads Association will be running a pr and publicity campaign to boost consumption of members' products.

The campaign is funded by pre-packer members of the association which also represents growers. The promotional push will run late in the season in August and September and will have a two-pronged approach - to inform consumers about the industry as well as to promote its products.

The BLSA has retained Wendy Akers PR Ltd and is also working with its grower members on funding for the revamping of its website with the aid of the pr firm.

The BLSA groups growers and pre-packers to represent the supply chain of iceberg and other leafy types such as lollo biondo, lollo rosso, oakleaf and endive in the UK.
