EuropaBio and IntertechPira have joined forces to stage the European Forum for Industrial Biotechnology (EFIB) in Lisbon this year.

The event, which will deliver plenary sessions, streams and workshops that focus on the development of white biotechnology, will move from Brussels to Lisbon, Portugal at the SANA Lisboa Hotel on 20 - 22 October.

The programme, built by the advisory panel, will analyse feedstock for the bio-based economy, policies and regulations and the most recent innovations in the biotechnology field.

EFIB 2009 will feature a high profile guest presentation from Brazil on the developments and progress of the largest biomass provider in the world. Also, various biotechnology markets, such as automotive, pulp and paper, and textiles, will be analysed from different perspectives.

The exhibition at EFIB 2009 will present leading suppliers showcasing the latest innovations in equipment, technology and services and aims to grow even bigger this year.

EFIB 2009’s advisory board will feature some interesting inclusions such as Bruno Ferreira from BioTrend SA and Joaquim M. S. Cabrel from the Institute for Biotechnology, Willy De Greef, Secretary General, Europabio, Belgium and

Ian Hudson, president of EMEA, Switzerland.

Ciaran Little, head of Global Events at IntertechPira, said: “The inaugural European Forum for Industrial Biotechnology attracted more than 260 international leaders in white biotechnology from 23 countries.

“Building on this success, we will make sure that in 2009 we put together an unrivalled programme as well as the foremost exhibition and outstanding networking opportunities.”
