Pest management and pollination specialist Biobest has announced that Simon Jones, general manager of its UK operations, has retired.

Jones retired on 27 March, ending what the group called ”a distinguished career advancing sustainable crop protection”.

His successor, Tim Crittenden, who has been progressively taking over Jones’ responsibilities for the past six months, will now fully lead Biobest UK.

Biobest said that for more than 35 years, Jones played a ”pivotal role” in providing UK growers with biological alternatives to chemical products, backed by expert technical advice.

”Under his leadership, Biobest UK has strengthened its reputation as a trusted provider of integrated pest management (IPM) solutions, helping growers transition to more sustainable farming practices,” the group outlined.

Crittenden, who has been with Biobest UK since 2018, brings a wealth of expertise in biological crop protection, it continued.

”His leadership will ensure a seamless transition and the continued delivery of high-quality support and solutions for Biobest UK’s customers,” the company stated.

Gerry Huygens, president of the Biobest division, expressed his appreciation for Jones’ past contributions and confidence in Crittenden’s leadership.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Simon for his invaluable contributions to Biobest and the UK community of horticultural growers,” he said.

”His dedication to promoting biological solutions has significantly impacted the industry.

”We are confident that under Tim’s leadership, Biobest UK will continue to drive sustainable innovation and provide exceptional customer service,” Huygens added.
