The British Herb Trade Association (BHTA) celebrated its annual conference and annual general meeting in Kenilworth last weekend with visitors and speaker from around the UK.

BHTA chairman Fiona Lamotte said: “The programme was varied and interesting to BHTA members, not just for the industry insights, but also for their businesses going forward. We had presentations on organic herb production, farm energy, chilled foods and transforming team performance. It was also great to see that members had travelled from all over the UK to be at the event.”

Head of R&D at Garden Organic, Dr Margi Lennartsson, spoke to delegates about the opportunities and challenges of organic production, while Tim Pratt, technical director of the Farm Energy Centre, updated growers on the latest news in renewable energy sources.

Kaarin Goodburn, secretary general of the Chilled Foods Association, gave an overview of her organisation’s work and its influence on the fresh produce industry and management trainer Frank Newberry led an interactive session on transforming team performance.
