Grimsey who admitted last July that his strategy of cutting back promotional offers had backfired, received no increase to his £600,000 salary and no bonuses were paid to any directors. But he did receive £236,472 of benefits including £126,150 of additional salary supplements to top up his pension and part of a share bonus scheme relating to the 2001-2 financial year.

Shares for the group rose 1 3/4 pence to 89 3/4p.
