Tomatoes with “significantly enhanced flavour” was the offering from Dutch co-operative The Greenery in Berlin.
Hein Bemelmans, marketing director, said, at Fruit Logistica last week, the organisation was focusing on producing tomatoes on the vine with better flavour.
“The new tomatoes in the Aromio series have a very high brix content of between 10 and 11,” said Bemelmans.
The Greenery will be shortly marketing Santa, a variety of the ‘Aromio’ plum tomato, which will be marketed in bags specially designed for children, under the name “Dwarf Tomatoes”.
