BerryWorld is looking into launching an organic mixed berry selection pack early next year to extend its offer.
A standard mixed berry pack consists of strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries. In the past, currants were also included in the mix but, with the continuing growth of the berry sector, UK consumers are now focusing on fresh soft fruit.
BerryWorld procurement director Dave Ashton said: “We have supplied mixed packs for the past 10 years, but the last two years have seen tremendous growth in this sector.”
The firm will increase its imports of southern-hemisphere berries by approximately 25 per cent this season.
