BerryWorld recently organised a grower trip to Huelva, Spain, to view developments and new concepts in the production area for soft fruit.

Around 30 people made the two-day visit. The first day featured a visit to BerryWorld organic berry supplier Bionest, which is close to completing a new packhouse, and Frutas del Bosque, which produces protected blackberries in pots virtually year round.

“Bionest’s packhouse was of interest to all,” said Lisa Knight, BerryWorld’s marketing category manager, “especially when you consider the scale and focus on organic soft fruit. Frutas del Bosque’s Javier Vello is a unique grower for the region. The trials at Goldfinger were also viewed with interest.”

No trip to Spain is complete without the statutory sherry, paella, sun and sand, but this one was topped off by Mary Hall, who shared her birthday cake around.
