BerryWorld sweeps the board at National Cherry and Soft Fruit Show awards for berry varieties
Three BerryWorld growers scooped the top prizes at this year’s National Cherry and Soft Fruit Show in Kent last week.
Between them, berry producers Edward Vinson, Withers Farm and Tasker Partnership won the Best Exhibit for strawberry, raspberry and everbearer, as well as Best Supermarket Strawberry Pack at the annual event in Faversham on 12-14 July.
BerryWorld raspberry varieties also swept the board at the show, winning first and second place in Best Summer Fruiting Variety; and scooping first and third place in Best UK-bred Variety for with BerryWorld Jewel and BerryWorld Ruby, respectively.
Expressing BerryWorld’s delight at the wins, Graham Clarkson, breeding director at Edward Vinson and BerryWorld Plus, said: “These awards validate our breeding programme’s focus on developing varieties that excel in yield, flavour, texture and shelf life. This recognition drives us to continue innovating.”
BerryWorld added that the achievement holds particular significance as the group celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
“These awards are testament to three decades of dedication to berry innovation and the ongoing commitment by our top-tier growers to deliver superior taste and quality to consumers,” BerryWorld’s UK technical director, Stefan Rusev, said.
