UK strawberry importer Lisons expects supplies from Spain to remain steady through to Easter despite recent inclement weather.
“We had a rainy patch last week when we had to sell fairly quickly, but the weather has picked up now and I don’t think there will be any big surges in production leading up to Easter,” said MD John Grieve.
“There may be some peaks, but these will be met by increased demand.”
Grieve added that growers appear to have planted less fruit this year and that yields from Candonga are not as great as from other varieties used in the past so that supplies have not been outstripping demand.
