Berry sector gears up for first global congress

The first-ever Global Berry Congress is to be held in London next week.

The two-day event will see more than 200 decision-makers from the international berry sector come together for the first time.

The congress will kick off on May 15 at the Hilton in Canary Wharf.

The UK was chosen to launch the conference because it is one of the most sophisticated markets for fresh berries in the world.

The programme features a mix of presentations from key industry figures, including retailers, category managers, distributors and suppliers, as well as panel discussions, networking breaks and a cocktail function.

The topics up for discussion include how to respond to consumer demands, product development, and how to secure sales growth, as well as environmental challenges, labour issues, and maximising market opportunities.

Edward Garner from TNS Worldpanel, Nick Marston from Berry Gardens, David Johnston from Well Pict European, Lochy Porter from Angus Soft Fruits, Peter Vinson from Edward Vinson Limited and Nigel Harris from Fresh Direct are among the line-up of speakers.
