A daily pill made from a berry could help prevent cancer, scientists have found.
Researchers at Leicester University, funded by the Hope Against Cancer charity, found that bilberry extract Mirtoselect slows the progress of bowel cancer.
Tests are now being done on patients with bowel and liver tumours to see how much of the extract gets into human tissue.
The study could make daily bilberry extract pills part of standard treatment, it was claimed.
