Soft-fruit supplier Berry Gardens was one of Sainsbury’s special guests at a store opening in Hereford.

The store underwent an extensive refurbishment from 30 July to 7 August to install new shelves and lighting and introduce a new layout.

Berry Gardens was invited to conduct a sampling session of locally grown fruit at the store and be one of the first to review its design, which aims to provide easy access for all.

Grower Anthony Snell provided Driscoll Windsor and Driscoll Jubilee strawberries as well as Driscoll Maravilla raspberries. He said: “It shows that good, locally grown produce matters to people of all ages. We had young and old enjoying the freshness and sweet taste of our berries today. The proof is that our stock flew off the shelves and it’s great to see Sainsbury's supporting local growers.”

Store manager Alan Logie said: “Anthony Snell's fruit looked great and that local produce really makes a difference. Customers look out for local produce and support it very well.”
