Bedfordshire Growers is marking its 50th anniversary this year with a day of displays and celebrations at its site near Biggleswade.
Half a century ago Bedfordshire was a key market garden area, supplying vegetables to wholesale markets across the country as well as local retailers. And in 1963 a group of local Bedfordshire farmers decided to form their own company to co-ordinate the production and marketing of their horticultural crops, forming Bedfordshire Growers.
The day of celebrations, to which the public and trade will be welcomed, will feature country crafts and local produce.
