Roasted and char-grilled diced pumpkin from specialist fresh and exotic ingredients supplier Beacon Foods are likely to feature in a host of British food products this autumn.

The award-winning Brecon-based company is supplying pumpkin samples to a range of food manufacturers who are now busy planning autumn lines. The fruit, which belongs to the gourd family, is popular in sandwiches, soups, pies and other food items.

"Manufacturers are obviously being attracted by the delicate flavour of pumpkin," said Beacon Foods' new product development manager Diane Bailey.

Sweet potato is another product in vogue. Beacon Foods is supplying the vegetable sliced and diced either roast or char-grilled for vegetable mixes, sandwich and wrap fillings, quiches, pizza toppings and soups.
